Zahara scores big

Award-winning singer Zahara scores a five year gig with Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni.

Zahara, real name Bulelwa Mkutukana, announced today that she has secured a five-year performance deal with the international hotel destination and will kick off her stay in April next year.

She is recognised as the first artist to have bagged a huge residency gig, which is a common occurrence in Las Vegas, United States.

Popular household names who have gone down the route of residency deals include Celion Dion , Jennifer Lopez and Brittney Spears.

At her press conference at the D’Oreale Grande Hotel at Emperors Palace, the Loliwe singer said she was ready to tell her story in its entirety through her performances.

“I love the fact that the first person to break this record is female,”

“As storyteller I will be acting out and singing. This is going to be a big production,” she says.

“I will be telling my story the way I want to tell my story and it will not be limited to a 30 to 40 mintues show,” she says.

“It’s not a matter of me having to wait for people to book me before I tell my story. I now know that I have got a place to perform whenever I want to,” she says.

Tickets are expected to go on sale at the end of October.
