A passion for information and communications technology (ICT) inspired Thandi Maxabaniso, 30, from Wesselbron in Free State to grab each opportunity to be a role player in the industry. Maxabaniso is based in Thaba Nchu, where she works as an ICT trainer for Columbus Consulting. Her role within the company is to train youngsters from disadvantaged communities who have a keen interest in ICT. Maxabaniso, who has been with the company for three years, enjoys the responsibility of mentoring and training young people to understand the world of technology. “I have been fortunate to be trained in ICT and the knowledge and skills that I possess are now being passed on to others. Based on our background as black people, we never had opportunities to excel in any area of our expertise. However, as we get opportunities, we also need to transfer skills to others,” says Maxabaniso.
