Arsenal made the most of another Chelsea slip-up to climb to fourth after coming from behind to beat Sunderland 2-1, thanks to a Thierry Henry stoppage-time winner.

United's victory over their arch rivals at Old Trafford, courtesy of two Wayne Rooney goals, was marred by Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's refusal to shake hands with United defender Patrice Evra before the match.

It was the first time the two had met since Suarez, who scored a consolation goal for the visitors was banned for eight matches for racially abusing the United defender in October's reverse fixture at Anfield.

Chelsea lost 2-0 at Everton to slide out of the Champions League spots, thanks to a goal in each half from Everton pair Steven Pienaar and Denis Stracqualursi

Arsenal hammered Newcastle 5-0 at White Hart Lane, lifting Arsenal above Chelsea on goal difference, with 43 points from 25 games. United lead with 58 points, one more than City.

Blackburn Rovers stayed in the relegation zone on goal difference despite a 3-2 home win to Queens Park Rangers, while Wigan Athletic got the better of Bolton Wanderers with a 2-1 victory at Reebok stadium.

Norwich City rose to eighth as two goals from Grant Holt helped them to a 3-2 win at Swansea City, while Fulham beat Stoke City 2-1 in a mid-table meeting.
