Nyan' Nyan star Luyanda Potwana's big fat lie
SABC TV and radio presenter Luyanda Potwana is seemingly battling to keep up with the flashy celebrity lifestyle.
The presenter of the love show Nyan' Nyan has been inducing his fans into believing that he owns a brand new VW GTI and a house in Ormonde View Estate, Joburg.
Potwana, who also works for Eastern Cape station Tru FM, took to Facebook late last month and told millions of his fans that he was "blessed" with a new house and new set of wheel.
But an investigation by Sunday World, after one of his close allies ratted on him, revealed that Potwana owned no property and the only vehicle registered in his name was an old Renault Megane.
However, the telly presenter maintains "it is my second car".
Hatfield VW Braamfontein store manager Chris Beukes confirmed the car belonged to their dealership.
"The vehicle mentioned is currently in our stock," said Beukes.
When asked about the apartment in Ormonde, Potwana said it was a rent to buy property.
In his Facebook post, accompanied by a picture of him next to the flashy GTI, Potwana wrote: "A new addition to the family, for just nje... I said it before - when God commands blessings to come to you, even the devil itself obeys."
After scores of his online fans responded and congratulated him on his new acquisitions, Potwana responded: "Thanks a lot friends. It's all in the hustle, prayer and humbleness."
However, one of his friends, who asked not to be named, claimed that Potwana took a picture next to the car when he went window shopping late last month and he was hoping to buy the car.
"He does not even own the apartment in Ormonde. He shares it with a friend. He drives a greyish 2006 Renault Megane convertible that constantly gives him mechanical problems," said the friend.
