'Hand 'em over!' - Fisher, Arrison mugged at gunpoint
SASSY screen and TV actress Carmel Fisher and The Wild actor Keenan Arrison were mugged at gunpoint on last Friday afternoon.
Fisher, who was in Backstage and Rhythm City, is now starring in a thought provoking feature film, Snare, about rhino-poaching.
They were attacked and robbed after being surprised by two armed men at a busy intersection near Coca Cola Park, formerly Ellis Park, eastern Joburg.
Relating their ordeal, Fisher says: "It was so sudden you won't believe it. The two guys looked as though they were high on something.
"They seemed to be doped up and stoned when they knocked on the car window with their pistols," she says.
The pair was driving through the Joburg CDB on their way to Eastgate Mall to pick up some fashion garments for Arrison.
Arrison was due to take part in a photo shoot for The Bachelor and Playboy's Playmates magazines yesterday.
Fisher was still traumatised when Sunday World spoke to her yesterday morning.
"I was scared out of my wits. They could have pulled their triggers," she said. "They demanded that we hand over our cellphones, which we did as we feared for our lives.
"They appeared out of nowhere and we were trapped between two cars at a red robot. There was nothing we could do," a shaken Fisher said.
This was Arrison's second mugging in four months. He says he tried to stay calm: "I didn't want anything bad to happen to either of us. People must be more conscious of their surroundings while driving, especially in city centre areas.
"I'm a cautious person and at the same time I don't want to be an alarmist living in fear.
"But when something like this happens so suddenly, it knocks you. I was shaking the whole day on Friday."
Fisher said: "I was scared because even if you give them what they want they will still shoot you. Thank God that didn't happen. I'd like to remind everyone to be extra careful and vigilant, especially with the festive season approaching."
She said they would open a case of robbery at the Jeppe police station after Arrison has finished his shoot.
Named one of SA's Hot VIP's' for 2011 by FHM magazine, Fisher has also featured on the South African edition of FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World list several times and has had roles in a number of local movies.
