Funeral arrangements for Morgan Naidu
Our popular motoring columnist Morgan Naidu passed away at his home in Johannesburg, after a year-long battle with stomach cancer.
The funeral of the late Morgan Naidu will take place on Wednesday, 9 May, at 2pm at Sandton Bible Church, 15 Leslie Avenue, Douglasdale. Refreshments will be served at the church and a light supper at home will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Promise, a missionary trust Morgan supported.
Details: FNB Sandton Account Number 620 940 26 799.
Naidu (38), was also a radio and television presenter on DStv's motoring channel, Ignition, apart from writing a regular column for Sunday World, in which he gave readers advice and tips about cars.
Naidu started his journalism career at the Mercury newspaper in Durban before moving on to work at The Star and Sowetan in Johannesburg. He then ventured into television as general manager of Sowetan Television.
Later in his career, which spanned more than 15 years, Naidu formed his own TV and radio production company and was also a presenter on Johannesburg radio station Kaya FM, as its motoring guru.
News of Naidu's passing was met with shock and disbelief by Sunday World newsroom when editor Wally Mbhele broke sad news.
Mbhele said the whole Sunday World team was "torn down by Morgan's unexpected death".
"We are extremely devastated to lose a columnist of Morgan's calibre. His incisive (motoring) advice column was a hit and a must-read with most Sunday World loyalists.
"I would like - on behalf of the Sunday World - extend our sincere condolences to the Naidu family during these trying times," Mbhele said.
Naidu is survived by his wife, Mary, and two children, Oliver (10), and Layla (6).

I have not been a blogger on this column until today. After hearing about Morgan's death i had to register, login and write a comment. To many Morgan was a columnist but to me, he became a lifesaver. After trying to purchase a vehicle for months on end and struggling even though i had all the requirements, i wrote to Morgan asking for advice and the banks contacted me. I owe this man a lot and believe he was used by God to come through for me.
I pray that you are in a safe place Morgan. its a pity you had to go when you were so young but i for one will never forget how you came through for me and many other readers. You were good at your job and though we never met in person, i am grateful our paths met in an indirect way.
May you family find solace in knowing what a great person you are and how you helped others!
May the road rise to meet you, may the sun forever shine in your face and may the wind be forever on your back.
GO WELL, REST IN PEACE, YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED ALWAYS!!
