THE uncle of late Bafana Bafana star Jeffrey Ntuka has vowed to avenge his nephew's death.

Oupa Ntuka told Sunday World yesterday he wasn't at peace with the fact that the former Kaizer Chiefs and Chelsea defender died a violent death.

Oupa says he is waiting for the family to sit down and plan how to avenge Ntuka's death.

"I want the family to give me money so that I can go to Joburg to organise hitmen to deal with my nephew's killer," he said after Ntuka was laid to rest.

"The police failed to arrest Jeffrey's killer and I smell a rat. If they wanted to arrest him they should have done so way back."

Yesterday over 500 mourners packedthe tiny Seisoville stadium in Kroonstad to bid Ntuka farewell.

But there was unhappiness among some mourners, who questioned why Kaizer Chiefs and PSL officials did not attend the funeral or send messages of condolence to the family.

The only club that was represented was SuperSport United - by their team manager Godfrey Mosoetsa.

Ntuka's pregnant girlfriend Morwesi Temeki, who witnessed his killing last week, was refused entry to the marquee that accommodated family members and friends.

Sunday World saw her crying hysterically at the stadium gate.

Orlando Pirates fan Charles Fantisi, also known as "Makhala Njalo", complained that Ntuka's family didn't treat the fans well.

"When we wanted to sing for our hero they told us to keep quiet.

"Jeffrey played soccer for his fans and I was disappointed by the way we were treated.

"We wanted to carry his coffin to his resting place but we were snubbed.

"Honestly, that wasn't acceptable," he said.

Speaker after speaker said that the way Ntuka's life was taken should serve as a lesson to others.

Former PSL CEO and celebrity lawyer Zola Majavu, who is also from Kroonstad, revealed that a few days before Ntuka's life was cut short he (Ntuka) had asked him to manage his career.

"Jeffrey approached me few days before he passed on and asked me to help him to resuscitate his career," said Majavu

"He said he wanted to go back to Europe and asked if I could get him a contract by speaking to Jose Mourinho, as he was willing to do his best to play soccer again.

"After our lengthy discussion I signed him and he was about to go back to Europe in February."

Majavu also lashed out at his community.

"As the community of Koonstad, we failed one of our beloved sons. I'm ashamed that we failed Jeffrey.

"As a community we don't play our role of guiding our kids."
