Soaps giving miracle sex 'are just a myth'

Imagine there was a soap that could make your nether regions tighter or your manhood larger.

As far-fetched as this sounds, these soaps that claim to enhance our sex lives are found all over town. One of the bars is called Virginity Soap while the instant virgin cream goes for R35 in the Joburg CBD.

The soaps claim to increase your partner's sexual pleasure, help you enjoy sex, reach orgasm more often, feel young and wanted again and tighten the inner tissues and skin of the vagina. But just how legitimate and accurate are these claims?

Shop owner Suresh Naidoo claims they help to increase sexual pleasure and result in men staying longer in relationships because their partner is tight, even after childbirth.

"For example, if a woman is sleeping with different men and does not want her lover to notice, the soap will make her vagina tight and her lover will think she is only sleeping with him," says Naidoo.

Naidoo says he has repeat customers, which proves that they approve of the product. He says his customers are mostly between the ages of 19 and 40.

Naidoo said he usually instructs his customers on how to use the product.

"While you are bathing, you rub the soap and apply the foam onto your vagina. Wait for 15 minutes then rinse it off. I normally give customers two weeks for the soap to work."

One customer, who only identified herself as Sibongile, said she had used the soap and claimed it worked.

"I'm not sleeping with different men. I use it so that my boyfriend can enjoy me. It tightens my muscles. So every time he penetrates me, it feels like he is doing it for the first time," she says.

Sibongile says men get offended when they sleep with a woman and "the hole is big".

But gynaecologist Dr Derek Merrell advises both men and women to steer clear of these products. "These products are not scientifically proven to support the claims. They are likely to make the vagina dry which is not comfortable for women and that comes with a lot of health issues, like infections," says Merrell.

He says it's a myth that women's muscles don't go back to normal after natural childbirth. But he says if you feel that you want to be tighter, kegel exercises (pinching your pelvis muscles as if you want to pee), leg raises and squats will leave you feeling tighter in no time.

Mensjournal.com says many of the products that claim to make a man bigger or longer are scams. Some can even be dangerous. The site states that exercise is still the better option for a bigger, bulkier penis.

When guys have excess belly fat, it retracts the penis into the abdomen and can make it appear smaller and shorter than it actually is. And bigger is not better - this is old school and an outdated myth. All that matters is how you use your godly gift to satisfy your partner.
