THE silly season has come early this year with lots of song and laughter.

The Market Theatre has joined forces with Metro FM this festive season, combining some of South Africa's music and comedy icons for a series of unmissable performances.

The festival, which started on Tuesday and runs for the next three weeks, features music superstars such as Lira, Zahara, Trompies, Thandiswa Mazwai, Oliver Mtukudzi, Rebecca Malope and Ringo Mandlingozi.

And comedy heavyweights Mark Banks, Alan Committie, Siv Ngesi, Eugene Khoza, Trevor Gumbi and Tumi Morake are guaranteed to deliver side-splitting humour that will leave you begging for more.

The classic music festival boasts some of South Africa's finest classical performers from internationally-renowned Opera Africa, Soweto Quadro and Inferno Opera.

Audiences will be enthralled by some angelic, breakthrough opera, never experienced before on the Market's stages.

What makes the Market Theatre performances so exciting is the venue's intimacy. You can get up close and personal with the artists.

It promises an experience that Gautengers will enjoy without having to break the bank.

Catch musician Paul Hanner at 3pm today and funnymen Siv Ngesi and Eugene Khoza on Tuesday.

Zahara will perform on Thursday and you can party Friday night away with Koldproduk and HHP.

Book at Computicket. Tickets are R75 to R200.
