Award for the stories of hope
AGAINST All Odds, an eNCA current affairs show scooped up an international award by The Association for International Broadcasting in London this week.
Hosted by award-winning journalist Mpho Lakaje, this is a 15-minute show that's inspired to reflect a positive South Africa.
The programme profiles ordinary citizens who rise against devastating personal circumstances. In a country where most are dependent on government, these extraordinary individuals refuse to wait for hand-outs.
"This award is important because it recognises the fact that we also tell stories of hope, inspiration and achievement," says eNCA head Patrick Conroy.
The show was up against seven international broadcasters from around the globe. The award has been made in the short documentary category for the story of KwaZulu-Natal-born Lucas Sithole.
Lucas is South Africa's number one ranked disabled tennis player and ninth in the world. The show airs on Fridays at 8.45pm on eNCA on DStv channel 403.
