It's a fact: 7de Laan is one of the most watched soaps - thanks to the English subtitles.

Every day at 6.30pm life comes to a stand-still as I switch on. It's the one thing that gets my mind off my hectic life.

I never get tired of Hilda's (Annelisa Weiland) culinary misfires or her adorable love for Oom Oubaas (Pierre van Pletzen), who never gets anyone's name right and is a fountain of malapropisms.

They may be eccentric, but they're strangely believable. And Hilda's fights with the overbearing Netta Nortje (Annelize van der Ryst-Hatting), who is after Oubaas's boude, just cracks me up.

The over-the-top characters grow on you. Like Paula (Diaan Lawrenson). Without her je ne sais quoi there'd be no pizazz.

I just wish the writers would hurry up already and get her and Altus (Heino Schmidt) together once and for all.

Lock them in room until they sort out their issues. Then the whole laan can get together to celebrate - any excuse to party for this gang... oh so "hip-hip hooray!"

The other love kinda remind me of Brooke in Bold and the Beautiful, whose broeks have dropped for almost every man on the show.

Like Felicity, who is now married to Herman (Deon Coetzee). She first dated Vince (Jaques Blignaut), then his brother Xander ( Theodore Jantjies) and even stuck her claws into their dad, the righteous Neville Meintjies (Zane Meas).

And Herman ain't so righteous either. He was with young Annelie (Donna Lee Roberts) (eeuw) when he cheated on her with bad biatch Gita (Jo da Silva)...

It's like every woman he jols with is The One. Now he is considering cheating on Felicity with Helena (Jana Strydom). Aaai!

Did I mention that Gita is one woman you don't wanna mess with? She'll strip you butt naked and take everything you've got.

An absurd yet enjoyable feature of the show is the way in which people who are simply friends today are inseperable lovers tomorrow.

Like Zinzi (Caroline Jacobs) and Kabelo (Sekoati Tsubane), who have been friends for years and suddenly - suspend your disbelief, everyone - inseparable. Ja ja!

Then there's San Mari, who has dated everyone on the block. It gets rather confusing, but it's lol.

Poor Ryno just has no luck in love - his women either die, go crazy or run away.

Maybe Marcel is the ONE - but that would just be boring.

Bet a rhino gets her.
