EITHER former Durban policeman-turned-businessman S’bu Mpisane is the black James Bond or he grew up just like me, loving 007 action movies.
To date Shwashwi has seen all the 007 flicks, even Casino Royale which uses South African actors as doubles.
When we ushered in the new year, S’bu shocked all of us when he unveiled his new acquisition – a R10m black Rolls Royce Ghost, with his name emblazoned on the number plate holder.
The car was parked at his lavish residence in La Lucia, Durban North.
Some of Mpisane’s other toys include: an Aston Martin VanquishS, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti grand tourer, convertible Rolls Royce Phantom, a pair of Lamborghinis, a Porsche Turbo and Maserati Pininfarina, BMW 750i and Shwashwi’s favourite, an X6M.
- The all-white party saw DJ Siyanda rock the crowd.
He reminded me of R Kelly’s video of Step In The Name Of Love.
No wonder my good friend DJ Siyanda loves white designer clothes!
- One DJ who also deserves a mention is DJ Happygal Ndlovu, who also has a slot at the popular Vibe FM.
- S’bu was accompanied by his sweet wife Shawn, dressed in a white satin and lace gown, trimmed with feathers.
Between them was their son, also dressed in gleaming white.
Being such a rich couple, they can’t run out of A-list friends, pretenders, celeb hangers-on and Z-listers. Why else do you think I was there?
Heh, heh, heh, heh!
- Commissioner of Police Bheki Cele was on call – how else do you explain the SAPS dog unit doing a thorough security check of the venue just before the dooh started at 9pm.
- Then there was the Generations crew.
For a moment I thought I was watching SABC1 when I saw Winnie Ntshaba (Khethiwe), Dumisani Mbebe (Dumisani), Slindile Nodangala (Mam’ Ruby in Generations) and nanny Sarah, real name is Deli.
- Blast from the past Ray Phiri of Stimela was in the area.
- So was Lamontville Golden Arrows boss Mato Madlala, whose team recently received R8m from the MTN 8 tournament.
It’s a case of the rich mingling with the rich, ayoba!
Mato was there to offer support to S’bu since they both come from Lamontville.
- Bheki Cele and Jacob Zuma’s nephew Khulubuse “Khula” Zuma boogied until the wee hours of the morning.
Remember Cele trying very hard not to fall asleep at the MTN Durban Jazz Festival on December 26?
I love his work-first-fun-later ethic.
On December 25 he was quickly on the scene when several people were killed in Ntuzuma township.
Love you Ndosi.
- Sbu “007” Mpisane, I’ll be around on New Year’s Eve this year too and my white attire is on its way from Milan – no last minute shopping for me this time.
Oh, and please marry Shwashwi as times are really tough.
