Remember the ’80s Shell Road To Fame talent show? Ag, gone are those days when TV was worth watching.
This week Arthur Mafokate rekindled the concept when he teamed up with local artists for the launch of the new Shell Road To Fame.
But this time, instead of competing for talent, celebrities go on the road to win a title.
The do was held at Maponya Mall in Soweto, and was packed with peasants and a few familiar faces who are addicted to fame.
Celebrities will be battling it out on the road in Hyundai i20 cars for the title.
It’s a Shell campaign by petroleum giant Shell, aimed at saving Mzansi motorists up to 10% per cent of their fuel bill.
I know Rebecca Malope, Chomee, Psyfo, L’Vovo and Theo can sing, but I’m not so sure if they can drive.
Maofokate was MC for the event. He might still have the ’80’s sex appeal, but he definiately has the 2010 charm. Young fans screamed when he got on and off stagewhen he went on and off stage.
Spotted was the cute Selimathunzi presenter and Speedy’s frienemy, Kaos.
Dude, you’re boring. Ladies also went gaga over Generations actor Psyfo, pulling at his locks.
Again singer Ntando did not make it to the event. He was replaced by Theo from Mafikizolo, whom the crow d could not get enough of.
Show stoppers Chomee and L’vovo gave a stunning act as always.
Chomee, what happened to your search for Mr Right? Or have you found him?
Remember, if you buy Sunday World next week, you might just win one of those Hyundai i20’s.
