Ghetto Ruff music label is about to sue US singer Puff Johnson’ s mom Marie to recover money they allegedly lent her between October 2008 and January this year.
Ghetto Ruff founder Lance Stehr describes Puff and her mom as con artists who used him and left after he helped them.
The staggering amount – R130297 includes a hospital bill that Stehr allegedly paid.
Speaking to Sunday World, Stehr says he came through for Marie as she did not have medical aid .
“I went overseas and when I returned they’d gone to Polokwane,” says Stehr.
Sunday World is in possession of a list of things Stehr claims he did for Marie – including money that was spent on drinks and alcohol, the zoo, telephone bills and parking at the airport.
“Thank God I didn’t have to buy condoms too,” says Stehr.
According to the document, in December 2008 Marie was admitted to Milpark Hospital for an operation for a suspected brain tumour and Stehr paid R7648 for the hospital bed for the seven days she was in ICU. Stehr says her final medical bill was more than R100000.
“These people travelled to SA without a medical aid, so I tried to help them. Now they don’t want to give me my money. I am going to take legal action against Marie,” he says.
He says Puff’s lawyer Tumi Mokoena promised him he’d be paid about two months ago.
Mokoena says as far as they are concerned no demands were made by Lance or Ghetto Ruff.
He says he thinks Puff’s mother fell sick during her visit to South Africa early this year when Puff was still working with Ghetto Ruff.
“Lance must have footed the bill for medical expenses and he had planned to recover the money from Puff, but as we all know that never happened because Puff was in the country illegally at the time.
“Lance was in an agreement with an illegal immigrant and he knew clearly that you can’t enter into an agreement with someone who isn’t supposed to be here. As far as we know no demands have been served on Puff or us.”
